As the title denotes, the "Brits International" social group has been running for 10 years.
When I started the group way back on 2nd March 2005, I never considered it would become as popular as it has turned out to be, and the group still grows with more joining us.
We've seen some members come, and go, and have many that have been with us from the time we started.
We've had a lot of laughs along the way, and no doubt there'll be many more to follow.
We've unfortunately seen the passing of two club members to whom are sorely missed, and I'd like us all to remember them now
Brits International has never been an exclusive British club only. We've welcomed many Americans to the group, or Anglophiles if you will. Those that love our wee islands, and just want to remember their time over on the islands, or are wanting to learn more about their heritage, or just want to learn more about the place to which they to visit someday.
Brits International expanded out to Northern California in 2013, and known as "The Chin Waggers".
That is run by Kerry & Steve Sheppard whom have been members of Brits International since we began.
If you're heading out to northern California do make sure to stop by, and say Hello to them. Check their website at: thechinwaggers.net
I also started our own British festival in the Kansas City area in 2012, the "British Gala".
That event occurs each April over at the "Grace & Holy Trinity Cathedral" in downtown Kansas City, Missouri.
A lot of British vendors, food, and entertainment along with meeting new, and old friends, and having a lot of laughs, and chats.
We hope to see you there thsi year on Saturday 25th April.
We've tried to make our fellow Brits enjoy themselves in their newly found settlement, but also make sure they can still enjoy a great chat, and crack a few jokes with those that they don't have to explain their crazy jokes to.
We've basically wanted all our fellow Brits to feel at their new home away from home, and help settle newbies into the area, and help those that have been here far, far longer than I, remember the old country through a lot of chats, and many laughs with each other.
I hope you all continue to be a part of the group whether you're a club member, or a friend of the group.
I'd like to thank you all for your support with the group over the years, and I hope we can continue to grow, and educate more of our local communities about our British culture, and crazy nature.
Thanks again, and Happy Anniversary!!
