Pipe Organ Recital by John Schaefer at the
Grace & Holy Trinity Cathedral, Kansas City, Missouri
Sunday 7th August 2pm - 3.15pm
John Schaefer, the Organist of Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral in downtown Kansas City, will play a recital in collaboration with some of his friends on Sunday August 7th, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
While not being British himself, Mr. Schaefer (who is Canon Musician at the Cathedral) spent three years in England as a student; he absorbed much of the British way of making music and still emphasizes that in what he does as a keyboardist and choir trainer.
He has chosen some of his favourite pieces for the recital. These include works for organ and voice, organ and other instruments, and solo organ.
There will be the opportunity to sing some hymns, too (probably Welsh hymn tunes).
Donations welcomed at the door; $20 requested, anything will make the choir happy.
John feels it is more important to have listeners, so any donation is welcomed.
Proceeds go toward the projected 2013 Trinity Choir tour of Exeter, Wells, Bristol, and Worcester
“Be ye hearers of the music!”
Please phone John at (816) 214-9928, email him at: jschaefer@ghtc-kc.org for programme information. The Cathedral is at 13th and Broadway, in the shadow of Bartle Hall.
This is a lovely old building that is well worth going to visit.
Check out some of the pictures below when we visited the cathedral a couple of months ago.
I hope to see you there.
Cheers Ray..
